Curriculum intent
The intent of the Geography department is to promote pupil’s interest and understanding of diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
Year 7
Pupils are introduced to the main geographical skills and invaluable knowledge they will need to use throughout the next five years and to access the GCSE specification and gain an understanding of the natural and physical environments and the key processes linked to them.
Year 8
Pupils will continue to develop and build on the skills and invaluable knowledge introduced in Year 7. They will gain knowledge of and understand the main physical and human environments and the processes that create them
Year 9
Pupils will continue developing their skills and invaluable knowledge linked to the wider world and global geographical issues and begin to embed them to prepare for the GCSE curriculum.
Year 10
Pupils will continue developing their skills and invaluable knowledge linked to the wider world and global geographical issues. This will allow them to fine tune their knowledge and skills to enable them to answer GCSE exam questions
Year 11
During Year 11 pupils will complete their study of the key GCSE themes and fieldwork. They will continue to practice exam techniques using the skills and invaluable knowledge they have acquired over the five years of study
