We are seeking your views on a proposal to expand Telford Park School to help meet the growing demand for secondary school places across Telford and Wrekin.

Why This Expansion is Needed

Telford & Wrekin Council has identified a significant short- to medium-term increase in the need for secondary school places. To ensure there is enough capacity for local students, the Council is working closely with schools, academies, and Trusts—including Amethyst Academies Trust—to explore opportunities for expansion.

What Is Being Proposed?

As part of the Secondary School Expansion Programme 2025–2026, the Cabinet of Telford & Wrekin Council has approved a proposal to permanently expand Telford Park School. This would increase the school’s capacity to accommodate up to 900 students.

Key points of the proposal include:

  • From September 2025, the school will offer 180 Year 7 places.

  • A high-level feasibility study, carried out with academy representatives, has identified the need for significant refurbishment and expansion of teaching and support facilities. This work will take place over two years.

The Council has a statutory responsibility to ensure there are sufficient school places and is committed to supporting the capital investment needed for this project.

Have Your Say – Public Consultation

We welcome your views on the proposed expansion.

A formal consultation will take place from 8 April to 23 May 2025. Once the consultation closes, the Trust will carefully review all feedback before deciding whether to submit the proposal to the Regional Schools Commissioner, who will make the final decision.
