Year 7 - Take on the Mircro-Bit Challenge

Year 7 students have been preparing for the delivery of their micro:bit devices with expert tuition from the Tablet Academy. Micro:bits are provided free of charge by the BBC to all year 7 students this academic year.

You can use your BBC micro:bit for all sorts of cool creations, from robots to musical instruments โ€“ the possibilities are endless. The micro:bit is a handheld, fully programmable computer which is 70 times smaller and 18 times faster than the original BBC Micro computers used in schools in the early 1980s.

This little device has an awful lot of features, like 25 red LED lights that can flash messages. There are two programmable buttons that can be used to control games or pause and skip songs on a playlist. Your BBC micro:bit can detect motion and tell you which direction youโ€™re heading in, and it can use a low energy Bluetooth connection to interact with other devices and the Internet.

All current year 7s will be provided with their own micro:bit once they are delivered into school.
